The carina

At its distal end, the thoracic trachea divides into the right and left main stem bronchi.

The ridge formed at the junction between the two bronchi is called the carina.

The average angle of divergence of the branches of this inverted "Y" formed by the trachea and the two main stem bronchi is approximately 70°.
